Epson SX405 printer/scanner/copier
Thursday, July 1st, 2010Epson latest addition to their multifunction range is the SX405 which shares some similarities with the SX200 and has some additions. One of such addition is the SX405’s built in LCD screen and memory card reader which make printing photos without the need for a PC possible and it also has the same PictBridge connection for printing from compatible digital cameras too. The print quality produced by the SX405 is excellent and better than expected from a device which costs so little. While we of the subject of costs it’s the perfect time mention the SX405’s running costs which can be very low depending of what type of printer ink cartridges used. A set of genuine Epson SX405 ink cartridges costs around £30 which is not great but and it’s a big but, a set of compatible Epson ink cartridges cost £12 which is more than half the price of the originals and they print a equal amount of pages. As well as printing the SX405 offers scanning and photo copying for both of which it utilities the high resolution A4 flat bed scanner neatly located under the lid. Both scans and copying produced by the SX405 are good, not quite as impressive as it print quality but good enough for most people everyday needs. Epson have made some good improvements in terms of built quality on the SX405 compared to previous models and the whole machine feels solid while still remaining light weight.
