7 Ways to Get Quality Backlinks That Will Help Your Site Become Number 1 in Google

Friday, February 25th, 2011

There is a lot of confusion as to how a website gets to be #1 in Google. Although Google often changes their algorithm, one thing remains consistent; the inclusion of backlinks. You may ask, what is a backlink? That is a fair question; simply a backlink is a hyperlink from somewhere that points to your website. The more appropriate question should be; is there anything I need to know about backlinks? This answer is much more complex.

There are several things to take into consideration when building a backlink. This first thing is the anchor text. The anchor text is a piece of HTML code that is normally blue and underlined. These anchor text help Google to determine the keywords that should be used for your site. Depending on the type of website you are commenting on; you will need to use either “a href” or a “URL=”. Both methods are well documented on the Internet. The second thing to consider when building a backlink is if the backlink will appear on a homepage or an internal page. Homepage backlinks are more valuable than internal pages. The third consideration is the authority of the website you are commenting on. This is called Page Rank (PR). The best way to view PR is to use Firefox in coordination with SEO Quake. Google uses a ranking of between n/a (the lowest) to 0 through 10 (the highest). Getting a backlink on a PR 9 site is more valuable than getting a backlink on a PR n/a site. It is also harder to get a backlink on a PR 9 site than a n/a site.

Earn the top spot in Google with these proven methods:

1. Comment on Blogs - Find a blog that is about something you are passionate about and become a member. And, while a member; do more than just read the articles. Comment on them, become an active member by thinking about the article and submitting appropriate comments. If there are questions that are unanswered that you can solve, comment. And, always leave at a minimum your URL.
2. Submit Articles - Write articles on subjects that you are familiar with. Search the Internet for article directories and have your work distributed. (ezine is a great site to use) Most article directories allow you to include hyperlinks. These hyperlinks should of course include backlinks you your site.
3. Incorporate Social Media - Social Media sites like Facebook and Twitter are scanned often by Google. So, consider including hyperlinks in your posts on occasion. One word of advice; don’t just throw out spam. Your friends will not appreciate it.
4. Buy Backlinks - There are a tremendous amount of individuals out there that are willing to sell their service. Many are of great value. But, there are also many scammers. Be aware and do your research. I can tell you from experience that buying backlinks is a successful strategy for most people involved in Internet Marketing.
5. Trade Backlinks - While trading backlinks has fallen out of favor by most. I believe it still to be a tool to use as long as there isn’t a direct page for page linkage. The best way to implement this is to find a webmaster with more than one domain.
6. Build a domain farm - I like this technique. The key is to find domains that are of value. A couple of things determine value: Age and Backlinks. Expect to pay some good money if you find a site that has both. Backlinks forum, Warrior Forum and other sites will help you find domains for sale.
7. Join a Specialty Group - I am a developer. So, I belong to about a dozen coding websites. And, I am considered an expert on more than one. So, the webmaster really trusts my input. One of my requirements for helping junior developers is the inclusion of backlinks to my sites.
8. Build a Profile - Find some forums in which to become a member. Most forum sites allow you to build a signature. And, most signature fields allow backlink code.
9. Use a tool - There are many different backlink tools available to the intrepid Internet marketer. My favorite is the Backlinks Engine see below to find out why. You can’t beat the traffic it delivers for a one time price.

Google Offers SEO Selection Guidelines

Friday, February 25th, 2011

At the end of last month, Google rolled out a new page offering advice to those seeking a search engine optimization firm. Since being unveiled, there’s been both support and criticism of the tips and recommendations that Google has posted in various SEO forums.

From my perspective, most of what Google has posted is sensible advice and positive for the SEO community as a whole, especially compared to what was said by Google previously about SEOs, within its help area:

“Be very careful about allowing an individual consultant or company to ‘optimize’ your web site. Chances are they will engage in some of our ‘Don’ts’ and end up hurting your site.”

A brief and fairly negative statement, to say the least. The impression one comes away with is that most SEOs are likely to cause you problems, so you’re better off avoiding them. Compare that to what Google’s now saying:

“Many SEOs provide useful services for website owners, from writing copy to giving advice on site architecture and helping to find relevant directories to which a site can be submitted. However, there are a few unethical SEOs who have given the industry a black eye through their overly aggressive marketing efforts and their attempts to unfairly manipulate search engine results.”

So, congratulations, SEOs! Google, in my opinion, is legitimizing the majority of you and certainly the industry.

For its part, Google actually denies that there has been any significant change in its view toward SEOs. The company notes — accurately, I would add — that it has worked with the SEO community for some time, speaking at conferences, posting information within its own web site and via public forums. If the tone on its help pages now seems more positive toward SEOs, Google says it is just now wording things better.

“Maybe we are expressing it more clearly. Certainly there’s always room for a consultant that gives you good advice,” said Matt Cutts, a software engineer at Google who deals with webmaster issues. “The intent is not to be negative or positive about SEOs but provide more information.”

Whatever the reason behind the change, I think it clearly gives the general public a more positive impression about SEOs from Google. However, Google says the main intent behind the page is educational. Google wants the public to understand how to choose an SEO wisely, so they are not likely to encounter problems getting listed with Google or other search engines.

“The overall goal is to give people the tools so that they can assess a decision about search engine optimization,” said Cutts.

Let’s take a closer look at some of those tips.

Some SEOs may try to sell you the ability to type keywords directly into the browser address bar

This tip really stood out in my mind, because there are definitely people out there selling namespace services via dubious practices. However, these pitches have nothing to do with Google. Instead, they involve Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

So why’s Google calling this out? The company says it’s just trying to educate people generally about SEO-related issues, regardless of whether they are Google-specific.

“It goes back to Google just trying to do the right thing, the same way we did with the pop-up page,” Cutts said, referring to an educational page the company posted earlier this year on pop-up ads.

To learn more about problems with namespace pitches, see my recent article, RealNames Clones Causing Confusion. I also expect to revisit the issue in the near future, because I continue to get emails from people confused by misleading pitches. If anything, it would be nice to see Microsoft itself, rather than Google, make a loud, public statement on the issue.

Nice advice, but then Google doesn’t offer any real help on how to do this. That’s OK, I’ll fill in some blanks.

Finding Search Engine Optimization Professionals is a fairly recent SearchDay article that talks about three SEO directories. Both SeoPros.org and the SEO Consultants Directory are directories that screen who is allowed in, while SEMList.com allows anyone to list themselves and information about their companies.

MarketingSherpa.com publishes a Buyers’ Guide to Search Engine Optimization Firms. My last review was of the first edition, but I’ve skimmed the second edition and still think it is well worth the money for anyone thinking about hiring an SEO firm. Along with reviews, the guide offers a lot of helpful advice.

you should ask how long a company has been in business and how many full time staffers it employs

How long a company has been in business is good, but number of staffers isn’t necessarily relevant. You could find a small firm of only one or two people that is great. They may not have more people because they don’t want to grow beyond that.

On the forums, I saw several posts questioning the wisdom of this tip, as well. For its part, Google explains that it didn’t mean to suggest that companies with big full-time staffs are better than others. Instead, Google says it is really suggesting that consumers learn more details about the company, period.

“We are not making this general statement that the number of people matters,” Cutts said. “This is more an example of doing your homework.”

Hopefully, Google will look again at the wording. A simple change to something like, “You should ask how long a company has been in business, who is employed there, how did those employees gain their experience?,” might get across Google’s point that you should learn more about a company before engaging them without the focus seeming to be on number of employees.

Ask your SEO firm if it reports every spam abuse that it findsto Google using our spam complaint form. Ethical SEO firmsreport deceptive sites that violate Google’s spam guidelines

Sorry, I completely disagree, and I’m far from alone, judging from forum posts and other comments I’ve read. You can indeed be an ethical SEO without also playing the role of Google’s volunteer spam police.

In fact, there are plenty of “ethical” SEO firms that feel that reporting spam actually can be an unethical practice. These firms feel like they should focus on doing positive work — promoting their clients, rather than getting involved in negative work of expending time reporting spam.

Loss of Google Rankings in October? SEO Check!

Friday, February 25th, 2011

Historically, just before the holiday season Google has mode algorithmic changes (Except last year). Though last year we saw lots of algo changes in adwords to identify thin affiliate sites.   Around last week of October; this month we have seen ranking losses for some of the sites. We are not the only one but its been documented http://searchengineland.com/is-google-broken-sites-big-small-seeing-indexing-problems-53701 by some forums too.

Some of the other questions on the forums are:

http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=1b973a3ff415ad16&hl=en

http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=6296d8ac7b8f65e8&hl=en

Google all along has maintained that there has been glitch and it will be rectified soon.

A Google employee , John has posted answered to one of such queries as follows:

“Just to be clear, the issues from this thread, which I have reviewed in detail, are not due to changes in our policies or changes in our algorithms; they is due to a technical issue on our side that will be visibly resolved as soon as possible (it may take up to a few days to be visible for all sites though). You do not need to change anything on your side and we will continue to crawl and index your content (perhaps not as quickly at the moment, but we hope that will be resolved for all sites soon). I would not recommend changing anything significantly at this moment (unless you spot obvious problems on your side), as these may result in other issues once this problem is resolved on our side.”

As per the original SEO blog post Loss of Google Rankings in October? SEO Check! Google is definitely testing new algo (Or may have already implemented the same). And it is threat as well as opportunity for every good SEO Company. We have already started analyzing the data to check why and how it is getting affected. We looked on forums as well as in processes of formulating hypothesis as well as testing the same so that we understand the new changes.

Our first (very early) assessment points the fingers to duplicate content and “Not that Good” site structure. Though , it is too early since the experiments are set and the results are awaited.

Another hypothesis that we will test is about Dirty Back links.

Our request to the web site owners is to not get panicky; if you site is genuine then a few tweaks should help you to tide over the present problem.

Let us know if you want us to study your site and we will be glad to do so!!!!

SEO Philippines: Getting Your Website on the Top of Search Engine Results

Friday, February 25th, 2011

Webmasters realized the importance of search engine optimization or SEO when Google and other search engines set down rules on which site would get to be on top of search page rankings. Search engines consider a site’s design, content, and relevance as a crucial part in ranking.

These kinds of service are done by firms that specialize in SEO. Philippines SEO firms are among the leaders in the field and have delivered the best when it comes to creating content and other vital search engine optimization tasks. Search engine giants Google, Yahoo, and Bing have guidelines regarding SEO. Some of their rules are similar, yet there are slight differences. Google, in particular, has set up some best practices when it comes to SEO.

One of the best practices that Philippines SEO firms should do is follow Google’s guidelines when it comes to creating a title. The title should be unique and brief. It should also fit the content of the site. The use of meta tags, the structure of the URL, site navigation, content, and the use of images are also very important in optimizing a website. These are just some of the basics, though, and a thorough review of Google’s guidelines can be done by SEO firms. They can also provide off-page optimization services, another important aspect in SEO.

While it is important to make the websites search engine-friendly, people who specialize in SEO know that websites should still be tailor-made for the readers. Crafting quality content is very important in SEO. Those who manage Philippines SEO firms understand this need, and they will provide relevant content needed for the site. While original and quality content is important, writers strive to create content regularly as this is required by search engines. Yahoo and Bing require webmasters to create relevant content which contains the right keywords.

Reputable SEO firms follow strict search engine guidelines on keywords. They know that using the right keywords is important in creating website content. Putting too many keywords, however, won’t work, as search engines see through this ploy. Other tricks such as cloaking and off-topic keywords are easily detected by search engines and could affect website ranking. Reputable SEO firms are careful not to use these tactics as it affects the quality of their work. These kinds of techniques can cause them to lose customers in the future.

Other important aspects in SEO also include the promotion of the website in the correct ways, such as the use of blogs, link building, and social media. Social media has become the best avenue for people to promote their sites, and a good SEO firm won’t ignore this.

People wanting to set up their own websites can check the internet for the best Philippines SEO firm that will give them the best deals for services providing SEO. Philippines outsourcing has been proven to deliver the best results. SEO is the newest outsourcing trend, and outsourcing to the Philippines can help your company benefit even more from this trend.
